Magnesium Lab

Items Needed:

1.Crucible 2.Bunsen Burner 3. Magnesium 4.Safety Goggles

Process:

1. First we wieghed the crucible alone 23.65




2. Then we added the magnesium to it and weighed it 23.72




3. Then we put the crusible with the magnesium over the bunsen burner until the lid started to shake.




4. our lid didnt shake so we had to do it by hand as you saw. as soon as the magnesium lit up you had to look out the corner of your eye because if u look straight at it it may do damage because of the ultra violet rays coming off of it.




5. after it cooled down we used tongs and we put it on the balance scale the burnt magnesium weighed 23.65

we had an error because the weight was actually sappose to stay the same but it didnt ours went down because all of our magnesium didnt burn. yes or magnesium is conductive because the light bulbs lite up.
